Welcome, Trailblazers

Dear Trailblazer,

We loved meeting you at the church fair. We hope to see you again.

Consider this your invitation to worship with us at First Baptist. We start at 10:00 am Sunday morning (10:30 am starting September 7th).

I want to describe to you one of my favorite scenes from our church life. It’s Wednesday evening about 8:00. Our formal Bible study ended a half hour ago, but most the group is still hanging around. The kids are playing on the playground. No one organized them; they just enjoy playing with each other. The adults, young and old, sit around tables, snacking on something homemade that one of the families brought. We talk about the Bible or politics or sports or work or school or house repairs or something we saw online. We apply God’s Word to all of it. No one is in a hurry to leave. Eventually, one of the families with kids that drove 40 minutes to be here will say they ought to get the kids in bed and we’ll disperse, grateful for the friendship God has given us.

We’re not a program-driven church at First Baptist. We believe in God’s ordinary means of grace. We worship together, eat together, fellowship together, pray for one another, help one another, and spur each other on to love and good deeds.

And honestly, it’s glorious.

Our worship services are rooted in the historic Baptist tradition. We hear God’s Word read, we confess our sins and are assured of our forgiveness, we sing hymns, and we preach God’s Word straight up—no compromises, no apologies.

I hope you’ll join us sometime to taste and see what following Jesus looks like at First Baptist. See below for a bit more information about our church, and you can reach out to me anytime at rhettburns@trfirst.org
